about the work

I see Still Lives as two musical images of the Internet age. The first (“reunion”) is anxious and blurry, a meditation on the illusion of anonymity generated through social networks. The second (“wire tap”) crackles with energy as noisy lines permutate throughout the orchestra, combining into a wide web of sound.

Originally scored for solo electric guitar and set to film, the orchestra version of Still Lives was completed in July of 2014 in Brevard, North Carolina.
